01 — Apic Calibration

Overview: Role, mission, culture, and interview loop. The module that decides whether you sound like someone who has internalized Apic — or someone who has read Apic's website.

What This Module Tests

Two things, simultaneously:

  1. Whether you understand the role accurately — Pre-Sales IC, India/APAC, "trusted technical advisor," eval-framework builder, voice-of-customer-to-Product. Most candidates misunderstand this as a generic Solutions Architect role; it isn't.
  2. Whether you've internalized Apic's mission as operating mode, not vocabulary — the difference between referencing Constitutional AI and operating in a safety-first way. Apic interviewers spot performative mission alignment in 90 seconds.

This module is the foundation for every later module. Get it wrong and the rest of the prep is built on sand.

Practice Exercises

Complete these 3 drills with a timer, write raw answers first, then review the rubric:

Drill Focus Time Rubric
01-Tell-Me-About-Yourself 2-minute opener 2 min Recruiter screening
02-Why-Apic 90-second mission-alignment proof 90 sec Values interviewer
03-Customer-Architecture-Story 5-minute architecture narrative 5 min Technical hiring manager

Goal: All 3 at Hire level minimum. Strong Hire is the bar before applying.

Running BFSI Customer

All later modules build on this customer:

This is the running scenario you'll use across the entire curriculum.

Strong-Hire bar for Module 01

You can answer all three of these on the spot, in under 2 minutes each, without notes:

  • Why Apic specifically — referencing actual Apic research, not generic AI passion
  • Why this role at this stage of your career — owning the IC lateral move with confidence, not apology
  • Why Claude is the right tool for your customers — meaning a real customer profile (probably BFSI/regulated), not a hypothetical one

If any of these three lands at Lean No today, do not apply. Iterate.
