02 — Personal Narrative & Role-Fit

Overview: Craft a credible career arc that explains the lateral move into Apic. Distinguish between generic "I want to work on AI" and mission-aligned reasoning grounded in evidence.

What This Module Tests

  1. Narrative coherence — Can you tell a career story that sounds inevitable, not opportunistic?
  2. Lateral move credibility — Why you're leaving your current track, why now, why Apic (not any AI company)?
  3. Personal mission alignment — Do you operate from Apic's values, or are you performing them?

The hiring loop will use your "Tell me about yourself" answer as the control signal for everything else you say about motivation.

Learning Path

Recommended order:

Step File Purpose Time
1 01-Career-Arc-Thesis Craft your thesis: one 2-sentence explanation for why Apic 20 min
2 02-Lateral-Move-Answer The answer to "Why are you leaving your current role?" 15 min
3 03-Mission-Alignment-as-Evidence Show, don't tell: evidence your values align with Apic 15 min
4 04-Resume-Rewrite-Plan Resume bullets that ladder up to your thesis 15 min
5 05-Three-Register-Intros The same story told 3 ways: recruiter / HM / technical 15 min

Total notes time: ~80 minutes

Practice Exercises

Drill Focus Time Rubric
01-Two-Minute-Intro Recruiter-friendly version of your career arc 2 min Confidence, clarity, hooks interest

How to Work This Module

  1. Read all 5 Notes in order (~80 minutes)
  2. Focus on crafting your thesis and career arc, not generic industry analysis
  3. Run the 3 Drills with a timer — Record yourself. Listen back. Does it sound rehearsed or genuine?
  4. Review the case study — Practice introducing yourself to the BFSI customer as an Apic architect
  5. Skim Interview-QA-Bank — Mark your 5 weakest questions
  6. Mark complete when all Drills reach Hire level

Strong-Hire bar: Your "Why Apic" answer references specific Apic research (Constitutional AI, interpretability, responsible scaling), not generic "passion for AI."
